She’s had her fair share of on-screen sex scenes and now Penelope Cruz dishes all about them with W magazine, including the time she time she lied to land her first steamy role. “When I was 16, I got Jamón, Jamón. Of course, I had to lie about my age,” she reveals. “And I had to lie to my parents about the content of the script.”

And even after 20 plus years in the business, the 38-year-old actress says love scenes are still “really, really hard to shoot”; so strange, she often thinks about basing an entire film on them. “When I’m doing one I’m thinking, where would I put the camera if I had to tell the story of how these scenes get made!”

W’s September cover girl, who looks stunning in a black Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci turtleneck, also opens up about her experience filming her Academy Award winning role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona with Woody Allen. She admits she “drove him crazy”, which according to Penelope happens often with his cast and the reason why the director famously tries to avoid actors.

When asked, Woody says: “They come to me with all these strange questions that I either don’t know how to answer or I don’t want to answer.” Penelope who teams up with Woody again in the upcoming To Rome with Love, describes their first meeting as unusually brief. “We sat down for 30 seconds,” she says. “He had seen Volver and he thought I would be right for this character. And that was it. I never spoke to him again until we were shooting.”

W magazine hits newsstands on August 21, but you can watch more from Penelope’s interview in the video below!
