With TIFF right around the corner, Victor Garber joins us in our ET Canada studio to talk about the film that made his career, Titanic, and his latest film, Argo, directed by Ben Affleck and premiering at the film fest.

It’s hard to believe it’s been over 15 years since Titanic broke box office records and broke our hearts! And co-star Victor told ET Canada he’s “still in shock” that he got to be a part of the iconic film!

With the 3D Blu-ray Titanic release set for next month – Victor tells us: “I mean I knew it was a big movie! Obviously James Cameron is a huge director! And Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio… although they were not what they are now… [I knew] it was more than a job. I knew I was stepping into something special.”

And that something special was a continued successful career – spanning film and TV. In fact, it was his role on the hit series Alias that earned him a lasting friendship with co-star Jennifer Garner and her husband Ben Affleck – a friendship that has led to his next major project!

Victor tells us that they are “obviously very close friends.” So much so that Jen even helped him get his new role in Ben’s film, Argo: “When they were casting for the movie, I read the script and I thought to myself… gee I’d love to play that part and I never said a word. And I think Jennifer may have had some sort of role in saying, ‘Why don’t you get Victor to play that part?’”

And the actor says he’s grateful for the opportunity, opening up to us: “It’s an astonishing achievement by Ben Affleck! Really!…. Working with him was a joy he’s amazing collaborative director. So detailed and so pleasant we had so much fun on the set, considering the subject matter. He told the story in a way… it’s a nail bitter.. .it’s literally a thrill ride of a movie.”

Argo is set to have its world premiere at TIFF next month! Watch our full chat with Victor on tonight’s show!
