It was a shock to most when Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp announced they were going their separate ways in June of this year, after 14 years together. But the French singer is now opening up about life and love and what may have gone wrong for the couple that seemed to have it all.
The 39-year-old gave an interview just two days before the news of the split, appearing in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar: “Love is the strongest and most fragile thing we have in life… Nothing is ever for sure.”
Not specifically mentioning Johnny, she adds: “When you meet the love of your life, it’s just obvious and natural and easier.” But she continues, “You keep learning all the time. Sometimes you could be in an unhappy relationship; you are very much in love with someone, but it’s making you unhappy and you think things can change and you can work it out.” More from the interview here.
And the beauty also recently spoke to French ELLE about her thoughts on relationships: “I don’t have the recipe for happiness, but I think the engine is simply having the desire. I hate, for example, whenever you hear someone say: ‘You have work at being a couple,’ No, you have to want to be there.”
