After Beyonce wrote a handwritten note to Michelle Obama this week, the First Lady has replied on her Twitter account on Friday: “Beyonce thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to. –mo”
Though she is herself an icon to women all over the world, Beyonce revealed her own idol via an open letter on her Tumblr.
“Michelle is the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American woman,” Beyonce writes. “No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope – she’s humble, loving, and sincere.”
The handwritten note ends, “Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that that u do for us – I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”
And it appears the love is mutual. The Obamas have also expressed love for superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z, with Obama recently telling The Atlantic‘s David Samuels at a political fundraiser in New York City that he prefers Jay-Z over Kanye West.
