Anne Hathaway is “still trying to figure out how to live without leather” in the July issue of Allure Magazine. The actress dishes on nudity, lopping off all her hair for Les Miserables and why her Catwoman costume was a terror.
The issue shows Anne with her signature long locks but we all know that she’s sporting a slightly shorter ‘do thanks to her latest role as Fantine in Les Miserables. Anne says she was excited about “the big chop” while on set and tells the magazine about her dramatic weight loss for her role. “I’m doing some crazy weight stuff right now,” the actress reveals, adding, “I’m on day six of detox …this diet makes me break out, so I love that. Nothing like living on hummus and radishes and then being all like ‘And I got a pimple’ Yeah.”
Anne is quite frank about nudity in acting saying: “I’m as vain as the next girl, but I think it’s my job to show people as they live, and nudity is a part of life.” That being said, she mentions that the explicit birth scene in Knocked Up is why she didn’t take the role. “I thought that [director] Judd [Apatow] was right to include the shot. I didn’t disagree with the shot… My issue with it was that having not experienced motherhood myself, I didn’t know how I was gonna feel on the other side about giving birth.”
Dressed in an Alexander Wang mohair sweater with Liz Taylor-esque cat eyes, Anne seems to be embodying her feline alter-ego Catwoman. The new addition to The Dark Knight franchise says her costume was “a psychological terrorist… the suit, thoughts of my suit, changing my life so I would fit into that suit… it dominated my year.” Anne jokes: “I went into the gym for ten months and didn’t come out.”
The July issues hits newsstands on the June 19 and you can catch Anne in The Dark Knight when it hits theatres July 20.
