Looking lovely in a parade of neon dresses and accessories, True Blood’s Anna Paquin – who debuted her ‘barely there’ baby bump at the White House Correspondents Dinner last weekend – spoke candidly to Zooey Magazine about staying out of the spotlight, being bisexual and the limitations of plastic surgery.
Anna, who married True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer in 2010, admits to being private, but says she doesn’t consider herself a recluse: “I think it’s important to have things that are just for you and [the] people that are closest to you. Some people share absolutely everything, but then what do you have left that’s yours? It diminishes what’s really special in your life.”
The True Blood actress announced she was bisexual in 2010 during a PSA for the ‘Give a Damn Campaign’ and revealed to the magazine she was shocked at the ignorance of some people towards her because of it.
“For me, it’s not really an issue because I’m someone who believes being bisexual is actually a thing,” she said. “It’s not made up. It’s not a lack of decision. It’s not being greedy or numerous other ignorant things I’ve heard at this point. For a bisexual, it’s not about gender. That’s not the deciding factor for who they’re attracted to.”
The actress also spoke out about going under the knife, revealing she thinks plastic surgery is “very limiting” especially for an actress.
She adds that she wouldn’t change a thing because her physical quirks bring her a greater selection of roles than if she had a generic Hollywood look: “I think anyone is as critical as they have the energy to self obsess, but I also know as an actress you are more limited if you interfere with your looks. If you have a whole bunch of work done with your teeth and your face and your boobs then you’re only going to play modern people. That’s a big choice to make.”
True Blood is currently filming its fifth season, set to premiere June 10 on HBO.
