“It’s turning out to be pretty fabulous,” Rufus told us back in April about his wedding plans. But the singer was quick to clarify that the event won’t be a big celebrity wedding spectacle. “It is going to be at our home so it’s not a Celine Dion special or anything.”
Rufus says his one-year-old daughter, with friend Lorca Cohen daughter of singer Leonard Cohen, contributed to his decision to make his relationship with Jorn official. “I’m getting married to my boyfriend, first of all because I love him,” he told us. “But also because I want Viva, my daughter to really love him, regard him on the same level as me.”
Viva lives primarily with her mother, but Rufus and Jorn are co-dads when the child is with them. “Because Viva is not biologically connected to Jorn, I just wanted to create kind of a structure that we can work with in bringing up a child together,” he explained.
Rufus and Jorn have spent a lot of time in Toronto this summer to accommodate Jorn’s position as artistic director of the Luminato arts festival. The couple was spotted out and about several times with friend Jake Gyllenhaal who was shooting his upcoming film, An Enemy, in the city. Perhaps Jakey G is on the wedding guest list? Actress Carrie Fisher is also rumoured to be among the guests, along with Yoko Ono. But no matter who is there, we know this wedding will be one stylish affair! Congrats Rufus and Jorn!
