There’s no fighting Gangnam Style!  The epic dance hit has taken over the world, with more than half a billion YouTube views and enough viral tributes to make Carly Rae Jepsen jealous. Now the Korean super sensation, PSY, hits Toronto to give our Roz Weston a lesson in the craze.

So what exactly is ‘Gangnam Style’ ?  PSY says the Gangnam region in the city of Seoul is, “calm in the daytime and insane at night,” and it’s this dichotomy that he tries to capture in the song, saying specifically, “I compare the sexy ladies to the district – Day and night, to me that is sexy. “

While fame was nothing new to the multiplatinum performer in his home country, PSY says he was as surprised as anyone that his Korean song could  hit number one in over 30 countries.  ”Before Gangnam Style, it’s kind of embarrassing but I was already huge, but after Gangnam Style, I realized that I was not huge -This is huge!”  And he says he’s still caught off-guard by the sudden interest: “After celebrities tweeted me, and CNN reported on me, I thought:  Hey guys why are you doing this to me?  I’m not ready.”  And the hit-maker’s still not sure if he’s ready to put out an English song, although he says the pressure is on.  “The crowd is having fun, there’s an exchange of energy  but still, the crowd doesn’t have any idea what I’m talking about. “

We can be pretty sure PSY will be hooking-up with another pop-phenom – Justin Bieber!   Ten days after releasing his video, Justin’s manager called him. “At first I thought he had the wrong number,” PSY reveals,  ”I said, if you are Justin Bieber’s manager, I’m Justin Bieber!  Who are you?”   But it really was Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, and he wanted to sign him to his label, Schoolboy Records.  Now that he’s part of the Biebs’ family what will the dynamic duo have in store for the world?  “He’s really good at the Gangnam Style dance, so  I can say in the near future we will do something fun.”
