It’s official! The final two judges have finally been confirmed – as we reported earlier, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban will be filling the two vacant seats for the 12th season of American Idol.
CEO of FreemantleMedia made a statement welcoming the two accomplished singer songwriters to the Idol family: “Nicki is someone who represents a different side of the music industry, who has now crossed into mainstream culture with her unique artistry, style and flair. Keith is one of country music’s true stars who brings with him charm, wit and knowledge about the industry.”
Meanwhile, veteran judge, Randy Jackson mirrored the sentiment when the news broke, tweeting: “We are back! It’s on! #idoljudges“
It’s been reported that Nicki Minaj will be getting $12 million to fill a seat in a one-year contract, which puts her behind fellow judge Mariah Carey who inked an $18 million one-year contract with the bonus of a renewal option.
Because of this, rumours are flying that there’s tension between Nicki and Mariah, which is why they will be separated by Keith Urban on the judges panel, with Randy Jackson moving over to Simon’s coveted right side seat.
Adding fuel to the fire, longtime American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest posted the official photo on his Facebook with the caption: “After some musical chairs, here’s how the new American Idol judges will be seated.”
