If the first The Expendables movie didn’t have enough muscle-bound men or fiery explosions for you, take comfort in the knowledge that the sequel contains a lot more. “We took more boats, more planes, more guns, more jeeps, more tanks, more explosions and more action stars,” cast member Dolph Lundgren told our Matte Babel in LA recently.
Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme (aka the Muscles from Brussels) join the cast for the second installment and apparently it was a minor miracle getting all the tough guys including, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis together to make the movie. “It’s a good, old lineup, you know?” returning cast member Jason Statham tells Matte. “How do you put that lot together?”
And while there are plenty of explosions, weapons, chase scenes and of course, testosterone, on the screen, the cast says The Expendables 2 isn’t just for guys. “There are a lot of real men in the movie,” explains Dolph. “I think that could be fun for a woman to see.” And returning cast member and former NHL star Terry Crews agrees: “We’re the type of guys that you tap at three in the morning when you hear something downstairs. You want that! You want that guy!”
