Finally got a chance to see Argo… I was hoping to see it during TIFF but you know how that goes, there is so much going on that opposed to what most people think you rarely get the time to see a film of interest.
I had a feeling it was going to be dope though… other than the buzz surrounding, you know a movie is good when the actors and director don’t do a lot of press for the movie. It’s kind of like saying ‘we don’t really have to talk about this one, we know people will talk about it for us’… I saw Ben Affleck at VH1′s ‘Do Something Awards’ and when he refused to do any press about the movie he was both directing and starring in, it was a pretty obvious sign that it must be good.
On a side note, most of the time when you see the director or the actor (for example, Tom Cruise - Valkyrie) doing press tours and interviews with every Tom, Dick and Harry you know it’s either not that great or the studio is worried.
Anyway Argo is SMASH, definitely one of the best movies of the year… I won’t say much about the movie itself other than, GO SEE IT! Affleck has really proven his love for the ’70s in the aesthetics and feel of the film. We could be watching another great director finding his stride.
