After weeks of speculation – Fox made it official today. Mariah Carey is joining the judging panel on next season’s American Idol. Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly told the press today, “It’s the biggest recording artist than any of these shows have ever had. It’s an artist many of these contestants have tried to emulate. [The deal] concluded only hours ago. Not being the only game in town we need to keep things fresh.” Insiders suggest Randy Jackson will stay on as a judge with the reality show searching for another male judge to replace Steven Tyler.
