Not many people would pass up a multimillion dollar, one-year job offer, so it looks like Katy Perry really doesn’t want to be on American Idol.
The Wide Awake singer was reportedly offered $20 million to join Mariah Carey as an American Idol judge, but turned it down.
Katy’s professional and personal life has been in the spotlight recently, going through a divorce from ex-husband Russell Brand, releasing her 3D film Part of Me and suffering from another heartbreak after her short lived romance with John Mayer was nipped in the bud.
The songstress talked about joining Idol with The Hollywood Reporter in July: “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet.”
American Idol lost both of their celebrity judges – Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler – after last season and producers have been trying to rebuild the show’s judging table with A-list names. But so far only Mariah Carey has signed on for the next season, with other stars reportedly in talks to join the panel, including Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Kanye West and Nick Jonas.
