Motherhood has made Jennifer Garner extra choosy when it comes to accepting roles. After all, any project she takes on means less time spent with her children. But it was being a mom that made the role in her current film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, so attractive to Jennifer. “One of the things I loved about this movie… I feel like it gets parenting so, so right,” she tells ET Canada.
Jennifer and Joel Edgerton play a couple desperate to have a child and coping with their infertility. When a mysterious boy enters their lives unexpectedly, they’re left scrambling on how to become instant parents. Although her children didn’t magically appear in the backyard like the boy in the movie, Jennifer can relate to feeling unprepared for parenthood. “I feel them still,” she says of the pressures of motherhood. “I still think as my child goes into this age, how am I going to be and what am I going to say?” The actress’ character Cindy makes mistakes along the way and that’s something the mom-of-three identified with: “That is how you learn. You don’t come into the world knowing how to be a parent.”
She and her husband Ben Affleck are parents to daughters Violet, 6, Seraphina, 3, as well as their 5-month-old son Samuel and she says it’s getting easier with each additional child. “I say ‘you’re the only that I know what I’m doing with,’” regarding her newborn son. “Apologies to your sisters, but you, I’m gonna get!”
