Anne Hathaway knows there are a lot of expectations on her as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises and she gave it her all to live up to them.
Being cast in the iconic role was daunting for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it draws comparisons to those who came before – from Michelle Pfeiffer to Halle Berry and even the original Catwoman, Julie Newmar. However, the actress tells us she didn’t let that get to her: “I was aware that comparisons would happen, but there are so many other things to think about… if you’re thinking about that then you’re really not doing your job correctly.”
From the looks of things Anne does her job just fine! She even says getting catsuit-ready was a breeze! “It was just non-stop doughnuts, couch potato time, ” she jokes. “I have never worked harder to look a certain way. I’ve never been one of those people who particularly cared about their appearance. And the thing I loved about this was that it wasn’t done for the sake of appearance. It was done to actually become strong.”
Anne is one of the new faces to Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise and she says she was warmly welcomed on-set of the final film. “This is a great group of people and they gave me non-stop support,” she reveals. “And I never felt like the new kid on the block. I always felt really included and I wound up, in spite of what could have been an extremely stressful situation, having an absolute blast.
