The Degrassi franchise just keeps pumping them out! Fist Aubrey Graham (better known as the rapper Drake), then The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and now alum Jake Epstein has graduated from the halls of the famous high school on to Broadway. He has traded in his former role of Bipolar Musician for a red leotard and mask, suiting up as Peter Parker in the theatre rendition of Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark, a role Epstein says he was born to play.

When ET Canada spoke to him earlier today, the actor admitted that because he was a nerd in high school, he was a definite shoe-in for the part! “The director actually said to me, ‘we just want you to be yourself for this (audition)’ so I came back into audition revealing a huge part of my awkward part of my teenage self… and they went for it!” he admits. His Spidey senses must have been tingling!

Epstein will begin performances on December 8, initially appearing as the masked vigilante twice a week and serving as understudy at other performances to Reeve Carney, the part’s actual creator. Even though the role isn’t totally his, Epstein is on cloud nine playing Peter Parker part time. “It is a total dream for me,” said Epstein. Then he web-slinged his way out the window! Ok, no he didn’t. He used the door :)

You can catch ET Canada tonight for more on Toronto native Jake Epstein’s role of a lifetime.
