Last Sunday, Big Brother Canada had its eye on VanCity. The open casting call at The Vancouver Convention Centre drew over 700 hopefuls – who lined up at 6 a.m. for the chance to become a houseguest on the reality staple. The new Canadian version won’t be a carbon copy of Big Brother US, but it will feature all the cheating and backstabbing that fans love.

Now I know for a fact I wouldn’t last a day as a “Houseguest.” The food is terrible and I excel at honesty and kindness. Boring TV for sure. I am curious – however – about what goes down during a Big Brother audition and if I have what it takes to catch casting’s eye.

So I enlisted the help of Big Brother Season 12 winner Hayden Moss. The very popular 26-year-old Arizona student was on hand to drum up excitement, and I somehow talked him into moonlighting as my personal audition coach. Moss won $500,000 with minimal backstabbing, so I took his tips to heart.

Moss walked me through the entire audition process. He showed me how to suss out real competition; shared waiting room secrets (casting is watching!) and told me all I really had to do was “bring it!”

He also mentioned (repeatedly) that Canadians are CRAZY for Big Brother. I’m not sure the show’s producers were all that crazy for me… but I’ll let you be the judge.
