It’s not a day unless we have a little harmless drama before a superstar interview! Only 20-minutes before my interview with Katy Perry, we all agreed my dress was way to drab for the set. I had on a white dress and the walls were beige, so we definitely needed a wardrobe change.
Yes, all that stuff is worked out ahead of time… What the h*ll!! I grabbed my phone and called up my good friends Joel and Veronica over at “Over The Rainbow” in Yorkville. I asked if they could pull a couple of dresses or shirts I could make into a dress.
Our interview was at the Hazelton Hotel and thankfully “Over the Rainbow” is right across the road… and I can always count on them for some sassy stuff. Crisis averted, we have a fun frock and now, oh crap… I dropped my cue card for a word association game we were planning to play with Katy down the side of the cushy chair.
Now it was just 10-minutes from Katy walking through the door and each person started jamming their hands down the chair. Nearly getting his hand stuck was our super camera God, Peter! That wasn’t working either, so Peter flipped on his back and found a hole in the bottom of the chair. He reached up through all the stuffing and springs… and I thought it was a lost cause, my card was gone… oh wait, by George he’s got it! Okay two-minutes to spare and in came Katy!
Yeah, it’s not all glitz and glam, sometimes life is like that – you can plan for a smooth day and silly obstacles take over. But, I will take a silly obstacle over the big heavy life stuff any day of the week.
Flash to Katy Perry going through a very public divorce… she embraces the silly obstacles in life and keeps the big heavy stuff close to her heart and private – and I admire that.
Watch the Part 1 of my interview with Katy below and Part 2 on ET Canada tonight!
