International singing sensation and now Grammy nominee, Carly Rae Jepsen, is bringing some joy back to her hometown of Mission B.C. this holiday season, in the form of a free concert.
“I’m so grateful to be back home in Mission where I’ve received such strong support from day one,” said Jepsen.
The complimentary concert, which happened last night at the Clarke Theatre, was sponsored by Target as a prelude to the store’s Canadian rollout happening in spring 2013.
The 27 -year-old singer has had quite the year, winning the American Music Awards New Artist of the Year trophy, and appearing with another Canadian crooner, Michael Buble, on his holiday special earlier this month.
Carly’s been an established artist in Canada for years, finishing third place on Canadian Idol, with two gold singles, two albums and two Juno Award nominations to her name. But Canada’s sweetheart was virtually unknown until “Call Me Maybe” hit it big in the US.
The five-times platinum tune has sold more than 10 million singles worldwide and climbed to No. 1 in more than 37 countries, including the US, where it spent a record-breaking nine weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100.
