That’s right, FOX has confirmed that Britney Spears will be joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on The X-Factor judging panel for the show’s second season.
Simon Cowell Tweeted a pic of the new team on Monday afternoon: “Can’t believe it’s finally happened. Very exciting! @thexfactorusa #xfactor #SimonBritneyDemiLa“
Brit Brit, along with Demi Lovato, will be filling the vacancy left by Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, both “x”-communicated from the show after the competition wrapped last December.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join The X-Factor judging panel,” said Britney in a statement. “I’m a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!”
Meanwhile, Demi made it no secret how excited she is to be working with her fellow judges: “I’m so thrilled to join this legendary group of judges on The X-Factor. To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true.”
Brit will reportedly receive a whopping $15 million for the season, which surpasses Jennifer Lopez’s $12 million for her first season of American Idol.
Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, and LeAnn Rimes were also in talks to fill the seat and it was reported earlier that Janet Jackson politely declined her invitation to be on the show, saying she was “very flattered that X Factor let [her] know that [she] was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.”
The show still has yet to fill the cheeky void left behind by host Steve Jones but is already holding online auditions for Season 2, which will be airing later this year.
