She’s on a roll with her triumphs and awards, but on Tuesday night during the Brit Awards, Adele showed her displeasure at being cut off during an emotional speech.

The singer, who swept the Grammys with six wins, was on stage to accept her Brit Award for Best Album at London’s 02 Arena. During her heartfelt acceptance speech, she was interrupted by host, James Corden. In response to the interruption an unimpressed Adele asked “Are you about to cut me off?” She then raised her middle finger as the crowd began to boo. Corden then introduced a performance by British band Blur.

Adele said the gesture was not addressed to her fans but was meant to signify her frustration at the people who run the Brit awards. “I was about to thank the British public for their support,” said the 23-year-old. “They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.”

The Brit Awards apologized Wednesday for cutting off Adele’s speech, saying the show was running over and they had to move on.
